This is the horrifying moment a nun stood ablaze in a Chinese street having set herself alight in protest at the country’s treatment of Tibet.
It is a still image taken from a video released by protest group Students for a Free Tibet and is believed to be footage of Palden Choetso, 35, who burned herself to death on November 13.
In the video the Tibetan Buddhist nun stands in the road in Dawu, Ganzi prefecture in Sichuan province, southwest China, self-immolates and then collapses to the ground.
I haven’t been this excited in a long time. I have five packages arriving pretty soon:
1) Hunter boots that my parents bought me. I am still shocked that I survived three years in Northampton without rainboots. I always wore flipflops when it rained hahaha. And I heard these boots are super nice so hopefully it will help me out when it snows as well. My snowboots keep getting soaked when the snow melts. Nastay!
2) HDMI cable. Ever since I bought my tv my sophomore year of college, I wanted to get an hdmi cable. I just always thought it was super expensive, so I never really got around to buying it. However, I found an awesome deal online through a friend. I just hope it works once it arrives with my tv and macbook.
3) Prayer beads. My momma sent me prayer beads so I can give them to my Psych advisor and my summer internship boss as gifts. Once it gets here, all I need to do is get the strings tightened a little at my aunt’s store downtown.
4) Bed in a bag. I have had the same bed sheets, blankets, pillow cases, etc since freshman year. I tried getting a new bed set last year but everything was so damn expensive, even at Target. So I decided to hold off a bit. Finally, a friend of mine told me she got her “bed in a bag” from Walmart online. I found myself a nice bed set and it should be here this week! Eek, so excited to decorate my new room.
5) Booboo is finally coming to visit me. It’s the weekend of October 14, but I’m so excited. This will be the second time he will visit me at school. We don’t ever really get to spend time together overnight. So it’s always really great to have a couple straight days on our own. Only problem is, I will probably see him two more times after that (Thanksgiving break and before Xmas break) before he leaves for India and I go back home.
:) :) :) :) :)
Lets get one thing straight. Melvin Goldstein is an opportunistic (old Anthropology spewing) egotistical ASSHOLE! Yes I said it and YES I’M TIBETAN. Everyone can proceed to “Hallelujah” right about…NOW.
Lol he teaches at my college, Smith College. I heard from lots of people he’s a complete ass!
